In a bid to raise money for next weekend's Sport Relief, a Resort Properties owner is preparing herself for a gruelling mile-long swim in the main pool at the Hollywood Mirage in Tenerife.
Ex swimming teacher Vida Lyne, 67, has been involved in charity work since retiring several years ago and was keen to raise some cash for the event which runs from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st March.
Vida calculates that in order to complete the mile she will need to swim 70 lengths of the resort's pool in sunny Los Cristianos.
Resort Properties will be making a donation in support of Vida's effort as well as organising a sponsorship campaign in and around its three resorts in Los Cristianos: Hollywood Mirage, Beverly Hills Club and Beverly Hills Heights.
Said Vida of her challenge: "I used to be a keen swimmer and had lifesaving qualifications, but now I only swim when I am on holiday. Because I have South African family connections I'm particularly interested in helping the children there".
Vida is manager of the new community charity centre set up under the auspices of Horsham Churches Together to help people in need purchase furniture and household goods at very reasonable prices. The volunteer staff at the shop are aware of Vida's swim and she is hoping that they are going to swell the amount given by Resort Properties and that collected at their resorts.
Vida, supported by hubby Chris, will be splashing off on Monday 22nd March at 10am and expects to complete the swim in just under 60 minutes.
