A Magical Christmas Brings Happiness to Orphans
Christmas is a special time, especially for children. A time to be with the family and loved ones and exchange gifts. But what if you have no family to be with and limited resources mean the gifts will be few and far between?
The orphans of Hogar Virgen Poderosa and surrounding care homes didn't have much to look forward to for Christmas this year, so we decided to raise money and give the children a spectacular Christmas party to remember.
On 11th December, 25 children aged 3 to 15 were collected from the north of the island and transported to Linekers for an afternoon of fun, laughter and surprises. As soon as they arrived, the little ones dashed off to enjoy the excitement of the bouncy castle, while the older children perfected their skills on the pool table.
One of the many highlights of the afternoon was a specially prepared magic show, courtesy of David Borras and his assistant. The children laughed in astonishment at the tricks and illusions and were left wondering how David turned white doves into cute fluffy puppies!
When the time came to sit down for a bite to eat, hungry tummies were satisfied with a veritable feast of party food and drink for the children to enjoy, all lovingly prepared for this special occasion.
Soon the highlight of the afternoon arrived - the eagerly anticipated visit to Santa Claus in his Grotto. Each child was thrilled to receive a beautifully wrapped, specially selected gift just for them which included Barbies, Play Station games, cameras, iPods and more. The gifts came courtesy of a staff collection at Resort Properties which raised a staggering €700!
The sheer joy and happiness of the children made this event so worthwhile - many of them had never experienced anything like it, and the staff at Resort Properties are very privileged to have been able to bring such pleasure to these children.
