Charity auction to help children's home
In support of the Falcons Group of schools' latest fundraiser for the Sparkes Home in Sri Lanka, Resort Properties has donated a week's holiday accommodation in a two-bedroom apartment in one of their Gold Crown resorts in Tenerife to be sold off at auction.
The fundraiser will take the shape of a pub quiz evening hosted at the Richmond Athletic Club on February 26th 2010 and will culminate in a charity auction, complete with professional auctioneer, where a multitude of gifts and services will be up for grabs.
The Sparkes Home is situated in the village of Kallar on the east coast of Sri Lanka and houses 40 local girls aged from six years upwards. These unfortunate children are either victims of the 2004 tsunami or have been adversely affected by the recent civil war. Many others are from families who are so poor they cannot afford to keep them.
Matthew Wilson, Premises Manager for the Falcons Group, said this of the event: "My aim is to raise enough money for me to go to the village in March this year and carry out some essential maintenance work on the home to improve the living conditions for the girls. In the long term we hope to leave them with the means to carry on with general maintenance and tools".
